DM’s work a little differently when it comes to screenshots. Instagram has an option to send disappearing photos and videos through DM’s, which can be seen only once by the receiver and cannot be saved in the chat or their gallery. However, one can take a screenshot of a disappearing photo.
In such a case, yes, you do receive an Instagram screenshot alert. But this applies only to disappearing content. Images or videos sent directly from your gallery to a chat on Direct Messenger can be screenshotted, and so can entire conversations, and the other person will not receive an Instagram screenshot alert for this.
